2024's hui in Te Whanganui a Tara was a collaborative affair between APPA and the Zero Waste Network that included community and political panels, hosted by legendary broadcaster Kim Hill!
Experts spoke to some of the most promising zero waste solutions to the plastic pollution crisis, including Bottle Deposits, Product Stewardship, the Right to Repair, using organic waste to restore degraded soils, alternatives to construction and demolition waste and problematic building materials, and a global agreement to end plastic pollution.
The event also shone light on dangerous false solutions such as incineration that communities in Aotearoa must avoid.

We took a site tour of Xtreme Zero Waste to witness the awesome mahi they do to divert waste from landfill (and enjoy their fab secondhand shop!)
APPA hosted a community clean up at a local beach and conducted a waste audit to identify the upstream source of the pollutants found
